Copernican Shift

A while back I worked with on a series of projects with the insanely insightful Microsoft USCMO, Grad Conn. At every turn he would reference the work we were doing within the B2B digital space as more than simple marketing. Rather it was part of the ongoing "Copernican Shift" in the world of communication. It was really quite inspirational and certainly motivating to think of the work as such.

Today, I thought about the Copernican Shift as I read this really fantastic post titled, “Ruptures in the Mediascape” by the very kind, Rishad Tobaccowala. I think Rishad captures the essence of this shift perfectly:

We are now in the midst of what maybe the most significant rupture in the mediascape whose implications on business and society are only beginning to be sensed. A rupture that is not just driven by advances in technology but a very deep wrinkle in the very fabric of every element of how media, messaging, content, information is created, designed, distributed, consumed, shared and trusted.

He makes it simple to see the opportunities within the shift. He also makes some bold predictions. Worth a read using the road out of the pandemic environment as a lens..
